Two minivans donated to Police Department for Migration and Foreigners

Pristina, 9 August 2023 – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) donated today two minivans to the Kosovo Police Department for Migration and Foreigners as part of the project ‘Integrated Border Management Capacity Building Facility’ (WBIBM), funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

Donating the two minivans is a continuation of joint efforts to enhance institutional capacities to respond to the increased migration inflow and facilitate safe and orderly migration. More specifically, this donation will enrich the limited fleet of vehicles for transporting migrants from registration points to the Temporary Reception Centre (TRC).

WBIBM project is designed to enhance border management among Western Balkans authorities and support their effective response to border security challenges through the digitalization of the identity and border management systems and procedures; building capacity in addressing document and identity fraud; adoption and implementation of international standards related to passenger data; development of relevant policy and operational guidelines on humanitarian border management at Points of Entry; and development of robust fundamental rights monitoring and compliance mechanisms at international borders.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration, working closely with key stakeholders to promote humane, safe, and orderly migration.
