10 New Computers for New IT Lab in Gjilan/Gnjilane Highschool
IOM together with its principal partner, the Division of Preventions and Reintegration within the Ministry of Internal Affairs, have identified a high school in the town of Gjilan/Gnjilane that was in need of support.
The economic high school “Marin Barleti” which counts the largest number of high school students in Gjilan/Gnjilane needed an IT lab for its students for quite some time, as students were still learning about computers and information technology solely from books.
Now, 700 young students who attend the high school have access to 10 new computers and one printer, in the newly established IT cabinet.
The delivery of the equipment was made last week in presence of the Municipal Education Board, Municipality Education Directorate representatives, school’s representatives and IOM.
Majlinda Hoxha, Director of Pre-university Education at the Municipal Education Directorate of Gjilan/Gnjilane said at the event that the students finally have an opportunity to use modern technology in their learning process. She stated that there are still many schools which need this kind of modern learning equipment, and are working on finding ways to bring it to them.
The support has been provided by IOM through the regional project 'Providing support to youth in local communities in the Western Balkans', financially supported by the Government of the United Kingdom, and is being implemented in 10 municipalities throughout Kosovo.
