DELEGATION OF DG NEAR VISITS MIGRANT'S RECEPTION CENTER IN VRANIDOL
A delegation of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) paid a visit on Wednesday to the Temporary Reception Center for Migrants in Vranidoll, Pristina to get first-hand information about the operations and services provided by the center.
The delegation comprising the Team Leader for Western Balkans, Ms. Helena Winiarska, the Policy Officer for Bosna & Herzegovina and Kosovo, Mr. Frederick Swinnen, and the Task Manager at the European Union Office, Massimiliano Prozzo, was briefed by the Director of the Department on Citizenship, Asylum and Migration at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr. Valon Krasniqi, and the IOM project coordinator, Mr. Habib Habibi.
The DG NEAR delegation was satisfied to witness that the Center, as a temporary home to newly arrived migrants and refugees, is effectively providing them adequate assistance in terms of registration through interpretation services, referrals based on their needs, and accommodation.
More than 450 migrants have been accommodated since the opening of the Center in June 2022, and received much-needed assistance, including information about their rights, food and non-food items, medical assistance, and mental health and psychosocial well-being services on a regular basis.
