EU-CSP III supporting primary schools in Pristina

EU-CSP III supporting primary schools in Pristina

Yesterday, the EU-funded Community Stabilization Programme phase III (EU-CSP III) delivered science cabinets and studying tools to two primary schools in Prishtine/Pristina in partnership with the Ministry of Communities and Returns.

One primary school, “Ismail Qemali”, is located in Bregu i Diellit (Sunny Hill) with about 2900 children studying from grade 1-9. It is the only school in Pristina that offers classes to children with special needs and autism. Around 48 children are learning together in that kind of classes. However, they were lacking adequate studying tools to support their learning processes. IOM Kosovo has donated those learning materials to the school in order to have a comprehensive effect on healthy development, academic success, and independence of the students. Also, the arts class room for painting was equipped with CSP support.

The other school “Elena Gjika” is located in Vellusha neighborhood and is a multi-ethnic school with around 1600, out of which 10% belong to the Turkish community of Pristina. There are five Albanian classes and one Turkish class in each grade. While grades 1-4 focus on mathematics and students’ native language, from 5th to 9th grade students are gaining advanced education in natural and social sciences, having practical classes in history, geography, chemistry, physics, biology, music and arts, each in particular cabinets. IOM Kosovo has donated appropriate and state-of-the-art learning tools and equipment for these cabinets, facilitating teachers’ transfer of knowledge to the students and making the lessons more interactive.

EU-CSP III is an EU-funded programme, managed by the European Union Office in Kosovo and implemented by International Organization for Migration Mission in Kosovo.
