IOM continues its support of community development
IOM continues its support of community development, aiming to respond to societal needs through the Community Stabilization Program (CSP) grant scheme, which is funded by the EU.
Two grants were delivered today, one in Fushë Kosovë/Kosovo Polje and one in Podujeve/o.
In lack of active engagement opportunities, many young people of Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian youth in Fushë Kosovë are exposed to various risk factors. To ease this, IOM supported the Centre for Integration of Communities to create a comfortable space for youth to gather and implement non-formal educational activities. They received one big table, 15 chairs, one laptop, projector, photocopy, printer, scanner machine, coffee machine, and refrigerator. With this support, the Centre will be able to advance its program and create opportunities for Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian youth to get proper trainings, workshops, and other non-formal activities that will allow them to strongly engage for their rights and voices to be heard.
IOM considers that education is a key factor in building strong and responsive communities. It is important to support the education of young generations and children so for they to become new leaders in their diverse communities.
The “Shaban Shala” Primary School in Podujeve/o, a multi-ethnic school that educates more than 1000 students of different communities, in lack of necessary equipment was not able to accomplish the science practical lessons. For this reason, IOM through the CSP grant scheme, supported by the EU, furnished their science cabinet equipment and tools for the following subjects: chemistry, physics, biology, geography, and mathematics.
IOM is happy to contribute to a promising future for new generations.
The grant scheme is funded by the European Union Office in Kosovo, co-financed by the Ministry of Communities and Returns, and implemented by IOM.
