IOM Helps Nine Migrants Return Home to Nepal

IOM Helps Nine Migrants Return Home to Nepal
April 15, 2021, Pristina - After months of living a migrant’s life, nine (9) Nepalese nationals were helped by #IOM to return home safely to their families. With tickets in hand, early Thursday morning they boarded the plane from Pristina airport to Istanbul, where another flight transfers them to Kathmandu, Nepal.

Their destination of migrating to Germany for economic purposes could not be materialized, and the idea to return home seemed to be the right decision. Having ended up at the immigration center for foreigners, they turned to IOM Kosovo and signed up for the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegrated Program. This means that upon their arrival in Kathmandu, they will be met there by IOM representatives, for receiving further counselling on reintegration support at home.

One of the Nepalese migrants who speaks English said before departing that he is happy to go back home, and if he ever plans to get to Europe again, it would only be through regular channels, for example by obtaining a work visa.
