One of the main priorities of the EU Return and Reintegration in Kosovo-Phase V (EU-RRK V) project is to ensure that returnee families enjoy a smooth and efficient reintegration process. The ability to be self-sufficient is one of the essential aspects of this process as it tremendously improves the livelihoods of families upon their return. This is why the EU-RRK Project regards Income Generation Packages as one of the most important components of the reintegration process. The IG packages provide returnee families with the necessary tools to widen their economic prospects and encourage entrepreneurship.
Two beneficiary families in the municipality of Novoberde/Novo Brdo, namely Ljiljana Miljkovic and Sinisa Maksimovic, were awarded with the Income Generation Packages after the project conducted preliminary assessments that evaluated whether they had the ability to generate income. The delivery of the IG packages preceded beneficiaries receiving up to five days business start-up training in which they develop a business plan based on the market needs in their community. The Mayor of the Novoberde/Novo Brdo municipality was also present to discuss the success of initiative with the project team, the beneficiary families and a local television crew that was documenting the activities. The deliveries signify how committed the EU-RRK Project is to cooperating with the Ministry of Communities and Returns and the municipalities to ensure that beneficiaries are economically empowered.
Financed by the EU office in Kosovo, co-financed by the Ministry of Communities and Returns (MCR) and implemented by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the EU-RRK Project is part of the longer-term partnership that will be implemented in 11 municipalities in Kosovo.
