EU-Community Stabilization Programme funds Equipment for Honey Production

Today, IOM visited two beneficiaries who have received equipment for the production of honey through the EU-Community Stabilization Programme, funded by the European Union Office in Kosovo.

One of the businesses is an existing cooperative called “Nektar”, which consists of 8 members dealing with beekeeping in Mamusa/e Municipality. The main objective of the cooperative is to increase the number of beekeepers and production of honey through joint action, joint purchase and sale of products. The project will improve the living conditions of the entire community as this sector is labor intensive and will contribute to the employment of two full-time and 3 seasonal workers.

The second beneficiary is a female from Manastirice/a village in Zupa valley, and her whole family is involved in the business. They currently possess 85 beehives and intend to increase the number up to 100 to meet the increasing demand of honey in the area. The beneficiary and her family are recognized producers of honey products, and with EU CSP III assistance through purchasing of the new processing equipment, she will be able to increase the quantity and enhance the quality of her products.

The EU-Community Stabilization Programme is funded by the European Union Office in Kosovo and implemented by IOM Kosovo.
