PHOTO EXHIBITION “YOUTH FOR HERITAGE” AT EU INFORMATION AND CULTURAL CENTER IN PRISHTINA

From 25th to 30th of January 2018

On January 25th 2018, IOM organized an photo exhibition opening ceremony at the EUICC in Prishtina, as a result of a photography workshop held on 16th and 17th December 2017, implemented by IOM in collaboration with Columbus Institute. Through this photography workshop, 32 children (age from 9 to 14) and 4 teachers from 4 different primary schools in Gracanica and Novo Brdo municipalities, both from Albanian and Serbian communities, have learned basics of photography, through fun and play, creative lessons and through visits to cultural heritage sites, respectively an ancient Archaeological Park “Ulpiana” in Gracanica and the old Fortress in Novo Brdo. This was an opportunity for children, besides development and improvement of their capacities, to interact and learn more about each other’s culture, providing contribution towards reconciliation among ethnicities in Kosovo.

27 photos are currently exhibited at the EUICC in Prishtina, out of which, the best 4 photos are printed as greeting cards and shared with visitors and respective stakeholders, as well as flyers, posters and other promotion material.

The Opening Ceremony was attended by pupils, parents, schools representatives, British Embassy in Pristina, media representatives and others, and allowed for the donation of equipment to the respective schools. Cameras purchased and used through workshop were officially donated to school representatives by British Embassy’s representative Mrs. Chablise Stoner.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is implementing the project “Promoting Social Integration and Reconciliation in Kosovo”, funded by the British Embassy in Pristina. The main objective of the project is to foster cooperation and reconciliation between different communities through support of various multi-ethnic social initiatives for women and youth.
